  1. Go to your university’s SlimStampen website (for example, https://rug.slimstampen.nl for the University of Groningen).

You can change the language by clicking the flag icon on the top right. Click “CREATE ACCOUNT” to create an account. The Homepage

Language settings

Here you can choose your language of preference. This will adapt both the homepage and display the lesson groups available in this language. By default, the homepage language is set to the language of your browser.

NOTE: A lesson group / lesson may be available only in one language.

Find a lesson group / lesson

If you cannot find a lesson group / lesson, please make sure to set the homepage language to the language in which the lesson group is taught. To find a lesson group / lesson in a different language, change the language, refresh, then search for the lesson group / lesson.

In the search bar at the top of the homepage, enter the title or the description of the lesson group, or the name of the instructor who created the lesson group.

Click on a lesson group card to see all lessons in the lesson group.

Practice Settings

Start practicing

Click on a lesson and select “START PRACTICING” to start a learning session. You can use the slider to set your practice time. Start practicing to obtain a mastery credit. You can read more about mastery credits on the View Progress page.

Facts overview

To view the list of facts in a lesson, click the ‘Facts Overview’ tab

Practice 20 most difficult

If your instructor has enabled this option, you will see a button with ‘PRACTICE 20 MOST DIFFICULT FACTS’ appear at the top of the lesson group. If you click it you will be able to practice a selection of 20 facts that you had the most trouble with. SlimStampen selects these facts from all lessons in the group. The 20 most difficult facts are newly selected every day.

The 20 most difficult facts will remain the same during a given day regardless of your practice performance on the lessons that day. The 20 most difficult facts are newly selected once every day.

Download lesson content

You can download the content of the lesson (questions and answers) in an Excel file as shown below.

Reset lesson

If you get stuck in a loop of practicing the same items and never see the last few items you need to study, you can reset the lesson as shown above. Don’t worry: the mastery credits you obtained will remain.

Mastery credits

This section explains the updated mastery credits. For an explanation of the old mastery credit system, see the Appendix.

Per day, you can obtain one mastery credit per lesson. That means to obtain three credits for a lesson, you will need to study at least three days.

Based on your response time and the correctness of your answers, SlimStampen can estimate how well you know an item. When you know the items in a lesson well, you are awarded a mastery credit. Your instructor will decide how many mastery credits you need to earn for each lesson. You can check whether you earned a mastery credit in multiple ways, explained below.

NOTE: At 00.00 Central European (Summer) Time, your progress is reset. This means that you need to ‘secure’ your credits before this time. Once you have earned your mastery credit, it is stored forever.

Lesson crowns

Only three are displayed here, but you can earn more than three mastery credits.

Practice 20 most difficult facts

If your instructor has enabled this option, you will see it appear at the top of the lesson group. The lesson crowns you see displayed here are crowns you can earn by practicing the 20 most difficult items.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Are the solutions offered here not working? Or do you have a question that is not mentioned in this list?

Please send an email to: feedback@slimstampen.nl.

In your email, please include:

  1. The URL to the page you experience problems with

  2. A screenshot of the full page

  3. A clear description of your issue

  1. I cannot log in. What should I do?

  2. I cannot find a lesson group/lesson. What should I do?

    • Please make sure you are logging in to your university’s SlimStampen website (for example, https://rug.slimstampen.nl for the University of Groningen) and NOT one of the other SlimStampen domains, such as http://app.slimstampen.nl or http://topo.slimstampen.nl .

    • Please make sure the language is set to the language in which the lesson is provided. If this is not the case, change the language, refresh the page and search for the lesson group/lesson.

  3. I cannot see my progress statistics. What should I do?

    • Please note that it may take a few moments for the statistics to update.

  4. Why does my progress reset each day?

    • For better learning gains you need to earn a mastery credit within a day. Therefore, your progress resets each day at 0.00 CE(S)T. This means that you need to ‘secure’ your mastery credits before this time. Once you have earned your mastery credit, it is stored forever.

  5. How many credits can I earn each day?

    • You can receive a maximum of one credit for each lesson per day. If you follow, for example, two lesson groups with each 10 lessons, you can receive max. 20 credits per day. You can receive multiple credits for a lesson, but only one per lesson per day.

  6. The system does not let me proceed to the last items of the lesson/keeps presenting the same items. What should I do?

    • The SlimStampen application determines if an item should be repeated based on your past response times and correctness scores for that item. Based on this data, the program determines if it is better if you keep rehearsing facts that you have already studied, or if you are ready to practice new facts. If you have answered an item incorrectly a couple of times in a row, or if it took you rather long to respond, this sometimes results in some items being presented very often and other items not being presented yet – especially in lessons with many items. If you keep encountering this problem, a solution is to use the ‘reset- lesson’ button. This resets all learning history for a lesson.

Appendix

View Progress (old version)

Per day, you can only obtain one credit per lesson/chapter. That means to obtain three credits, you will need to study at least three days.

This section explains the updated mastery credits. For an explanation of the old mastery credit system, see the Appendix. To inspect your progress, go to

Here you will find an overview of lesson group units for which you have received a so-called mastery credit. Mastery credits can be earned in two ways:

  1. The first way to earn a mastery credit for a lesson is the performance-based mastery credit: you will earn this credit if you have studied all items in a lesson, and if the last three repetitions for all of these items were correct

  2. The second way in which a mastery credit can be earned is the effort-based mastery credit: you will earn this credit if you have answered, in total, more than 13,5 times the number of items in a lesson correctly (irrespective of which items you answered correctly and irrespective of the total number of incorrect trials).

You do not need to obtain a mastery credit in a single study session, you can try as many times as you want. Below you can view an explanation of the columns in the statistics overview.

NOTE: At 00.00 Central European (Summer) Time, the mastery statistics are reset. This means that you need to ‘secure’ your credits before this time.

Column

What does it mean?

Items mastered

The proportion of  items that you have  answered  correctly at least three  times in a row. If this column shows  100%, you have  received a  performance-based  mastery credit.

Response score

The number of correct  answers you have given. If you reach 13,5 * the number of items in the lesson, you have received an effort-based mastery credit.

Total credits

You will see a tick if you  have earned your credit and  you are done with the  lesson.

Credits obtained today

Shows your achievements of today for each of the lessons. In the final subcolumn, “Today’s Credit” you can see for which lessons you have already obtained a credit.
